Empowering the Next Generation of Indian American Medical Leaders

The Central Florida Association of Physicians from the Indian Subcontinent (CAPI) is deeply committed to investing in the future of medicine through education, mentorship, and community leadership. In 2015, CAPI established an endowed scholarship fund with The University of Central Florida College of Medicine -  to empower future healthcare professionals and honor the contributions of Indian American physicians who have long served Central Florida with excellence and compassion.

The CAPI Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to medical students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and a strong commitment to community service. Beyond financial support, the scholarship represents a belief in the power of education to transform lives and a recognition of the bright potential within the next generation of physicians.

Since its establishment, the scholarship has supported numerous deserving students who share a passion for healing and service. These future medical leaders carry forward CAPI’s values of integrity, compassion, and dedication to the greater good—strengthening both the medical field and the communities they serve.

Advancing Cultural and Educational Exchange through the India Center at UCF

CAPI’s commitment to education extends beyond medicine. Through its ongoing support of the The India Center at UCF through The University of Central Florida Foundation, CAPI champions cultural understanding, global collaboration, and academic excellence.

The UCF India Center incubates ideas, research, and education on contemporary India—building academic bridges, enhancing cross-cultural understanding, and connecting communities across India and the United States. It promotes scholarship, interdisciplinary research, educational programs, partnerships, and outreach to the Indian American community in Florida and nationwide, while encouraging engagement with broader U.S. society through the dissemination of knowledge and cultural exchange.

CAPI’s partnership with the India Center reflects a shared belief that education and cultural understanding go hand in hand—and that by embracing our diverse backgrounds, we strengthen the communities we serve. At their annual Evening of Hope Gala on December 6, 2025 CAPI will present a check to the India Center for scholarship awards to two esteemed recipients.
