What happens when physicians from across Central Florida come together with medical leaders from across the globe? Ideas are exchanged, relationships are built and new possibilities for collaboration begin to emerge.
That spirit of connection was at the heart of a special salon reception hosted in partnership with CAPI and The India Center at the University of Central Florida on August 10.

The evening featured Dr. Thirumal Yerragunta, Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences and The India Center’s Scientist-in-Residence, for a conversation centered around “Intelligent Health: The Future of Indian Medicine.”
Physicians and healthcare leaders gathered for an intimate evening of discussion exploring the evolving healthcare landscape, advances in medicine and the opportunities created when medical professionals share knowledge across institutions, specialties and countries.
More Than 600 Physicians. An Extraordinary Depth of Expertise.
For CAPI, the evening also represented something larger. With more than 600 physician members, CAPI brings together an extraordinary range of medical knowledge and experience. Our members represent numerous specialties and every stage of a physician’s career, from emerging medical leaders to some of Central Florida’s most established physicians.
They practice throughout our region’s hospitals, health systems, universities and medical practices, caring for thousands of patients and helping shape the future of healthcare in Central Florida. That collective expertise is one of CAPI’s greatest resources. At CAPI, our role is not simply to bring physicians together. It is to create opportunities for that knowledge to be shared, connections to be made and partnerships to develop between physicians and the institutions and communities they serve.
Connecting Healthcare, Academia and Community
Partnerships like CAPI’s relationship with UCF’s India Center help extend those conversations beyond traditional medical settings. They create a bridge between physicians, researchers, academic institutions, healthcare systems and community leaders while strengthening the important connection between Central Florida and India.
For an organization founded by physicians from the Indian subcontinent, that connection is particularly meaningful. CAPI members bring both medical expertise and a global perspective to Central Florida. By creating opportunities to engage with visiting physicians, researchers and thought leaders, CAPI can help introduce new ideas, encourage professional exchange and create relationships that extend well beyond a single event. The August salon reception was a perfect example of what can happen when those worlds come together.
Creating a Platform for Physician Leadership
As CAPI continues to grow, so does its opportunity to elevate the physicians who make up the organization. Throughout the year, CAPI creates opportunities for physicians to connect through specialty summits, leadership programs, community health initiatives and partnerships with healthcare, academic, government and community organizations.
Each provides another way to bring medical expertise beyond the walls of an individual practice or hospital and into conversations that can help strengthen the broader community.
The goal is simple: connect expertise with opportunity. By creating spaces where physicians can learn from one another, share their knowledge and develop relationships with leaders both locally and internationally, CAPI continues to strengthen its role as a physician organization and a healthcare resource for Central Florida.
We are grateful to Dr. Thirumal Yerragunta for sharing his expertise and perspective, to The India Center at UCF for its partnership and to Drs. Shveta Gupta and Deepinder Goyal for graciously hosting the evening. It was an evening centered on the future of medicine — and a reminder of just how much is possible when we bring great minds together.
