At the Central Florida Association of Physicians from the Indian Subcontinent (CAPI), leadership is more than a title. It is a long term commitment to service, community, and the future of healthcare in Central Florida.
For decades, CAPI has brought together physicians, dentists, healthcare professionals, and community leaders to educate, celebrate, and give back. Through medical education, charitable initiatives, scholarships, health fairs, volunteer projects, cultural celebrations, and strategic partnerships, CAPI has become one of Central Florida's most active and respected professional organizations. Together, our members have helped raise and contribute hundreds of thousands of dollars to nonprofit organizations and community causes while creating meaningful opportunities for professional growth and cultural connection.
Behind this success is a unique leadership model designed to ensure continuity, stability, and innovation.

A Leadership Journey
CAPI is governed by an Executive Committee made up of elected volunteer leaders who commit to a six year leadership path. Members serve in multiple capacities, including Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, President Elect, President, and Immediate Past President, gaining valuable experience and institutional knowledge at every stage.
As President, each leader helps shape the organization's annual vision and priorities, guiding educational summits, fundraising initiatives, cultural celebrations, membership engagement, and community outreach efforts. Throughout the journey, they work alongside CAPI's Executive Director, who provides operational leadership and continuity to help turn ideas into impact. This thoughtful leadership structure ensures that each generation of leaders builds upon the work of those who came before. Meet our Board of Regents.
Leading Through Service
At CAPI, we believe that healthcare leaders have a responsibility not only to advance medicine but also to strengthen the communities they serve. Throughout the year, CAPI hosts educational summits and continuing medical education programs that bring together leading experts to discuss the latest advances in specialties including cardiology, oncology, hematology, women's health, and other emerging fields. These events create opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and lifelong learning among healthcare professionals.
Our commitment to community health is equally important. CAPI organizes the annual Community Health Fair, a wellness initiative that provide screenings, education, and resources to underserved populations. Through scholarships, grants, and philanthropic partnerships, we invest in the next generation of healthcare professionals while supporting local nonprofit organizations that improve the quality of life throughout Central Florida.
Service is woven into the fabric of CAPI. Members volunteer their time and expertise for charitable projects, disaster relief efforts, community outreach, and fundraising initiatives that address critical healthcare and social needs. Together, CAPI has donated over half a million dollars to organizations making a difference both locally and around the world.
CAPI has cultivated unique community partnerships, advancing community health, empowering the Next Gen of medical leaders and elevating healthcare heroes in our community.
Whether educating colleagues, caring for patients, supporting local charities, mentoring future leaders, or celebrating our shared heritage, CAPI members embody the belief that exceptional healthcare leadership means serving with compassion, generosity, and a commitment to making a lasting impact.
The Role of the Board of Regents
Leadership at CAPI does not end when a President completes their term. Upon completing their Executive Committee service, Past Presidents become members of the CAPI Board of Regents. The Board serves as a council of experienced leaders dedicated to preserving the organization's history, values, and long term vision.
The Board of Regents provides guidance and oversight, offers historical perspective, mentors emerging leaders, and helps ensure that CAPI remains true to its mission while embracing new opportunities for growth. Their collective experience helps maintain organizational continuity and supports thoughtful decision making for future generations.
Perhaps most importantly, the Board of Regents represents the enduring spirit of CAPI: that leadership is a lifelong commitment to serving the profession and the community.
Building the Future Together
CAPI's greatest strength has always been its people. From new members beginning their journey to seasoned leaders serving on the Board of Regents, each plays an important role in advancing our mission. Together, the Executive Committee, Board of Regents, Executive Director, and dedicated members ensure that CAPI continues to grow as a leader in healthcare education, philanthropy, cultural celebration, and community service.
As we look toward the future, the Board of Regents stands as both a tribute to those who built CAPI and a promise to those who will lead it forward.
